Melissa graduated early and moved to Denver to continue working in the fields of adult mental health, juvenile justice, child welfare, and non-profit management prior to going back to school in 2011. She graduated from Metropolitan State University at Denver in 2013 with her Master’s Degree in Social Work and her emphasis in non-profit management, program evaluation and policy development. After graduation, she became the Director of a psychosocial and vocational program in Boulder where she supervised adolescent and adult interns and supervised new skill groups. She currently works at the National Association for Social Workers and volunteers on the special events committee for EarthLinks, a local non-profit. In her free time, she likes to participate in activities with her car, and she occasionally can be seen playing guitar and singing at various downtown venues. She and her husband have adopted several animals that they love to play with: a dog, Bella, 3 guinea pigs, Prince-Prince, Spot-Spot and Gizmo. In addition, she also has a Fancy Brown Mouse named Sir MacGyver B. Mousekins.
